Zurcom staff are located in Pretoria and Durban, South Africa with staff representatives in Kenya, Mauritius, Tanzania and Ghana. Staff are multilingual in English, French, Portuguese, Swahili and other languages.
Richard has been the company Director since its establishment in January 1999, his previous experiences include employment as an export manager for a South African export house, site manager for a large relief operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and real estate in Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Alberta, a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Western Ontario; his academic background provides solid foundation for the firm's research and analytical aspect. His expertise includes project planning and management, he is also fluent in both English and French.
International Trade Advisor (Pennsylvania)
Charmaine has extensive experience in the research, administration and building of business relations through her work at the African Round Table - an association of corporate companies working across Africa, and at Zurcom International. She is an efficient and thorough project manager and team leader. As the representative for the US Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Charmaine has worked with Pennsylvanian companies from a wide range of industries such as pharmaceutical, energy, mining and construction. Charmaine is fluent in English and Afrikaans.
Trade & Foreign Direct Investment Director (ENTERPRISE FLORIDA); Team Leader (Zurcom-IBG & EDI Trade Mission To Israel)
Abigail currently oversees the Trade and Foreign Direct Investment efforts for Enterprise Florida in the SADC region. She also heads up the Zurcom/IBG/EDI Trade Mission to Israel on an annual basis. Her career experience has been diverse with her first appointment being with PriceWaterhousecoopers; then as Commercial Specialist to the U.S Foreign Commercial Service; and owning her own consulting business in recent years.
She has worked with both foreign and local companies and her professional skills and expertise include leadership and general management, project management, strategic planning, international business, economic development, marketing management, business development, corporate identity and communications. She has an Honours Degree in Public Relations Management and credits toward Bcomm. Abigail is fluent in English with fair communication in Afrikaans and Zulu.
International Trade Advisor (New York & Wisconsin)
Serbian national Rebeka has assisted companies from countries such as the Netherlands, India, Singapore and USA with market research and the penetration of southern African market across a spectrum of various industries such as chemical, renewable energy, retail and construction. She has worked on projects through the International Business Group, of which Zurcom is the coordinating office, and is the trade representative of the US states of New York and Wisconsin. Rebeka holds a BA Honours in International Relations from the University of Pretoria, her knowledge in international relations has been an asset to her understanding of the international trade field.
International Trade Advisor
As an International Trade Advisor at Zurcom International, Namala has worked with companies specializing in renewable energy, ICT, chemical and mining sector, amongst others. She is fluent in Swahili and her location in Tanzania enables greater and more direct reach into that market. Excellent communication skills and efficiency. Namala holds a Masters degree in Corporate Law from the University of Pretoria.
International Trade Advisor
Malawian national, Elizabeth is experienced in research and practical application thereof with the aim of helping companies make sales in the Southern African market. Elizabeth has worked with companies from around the world and from industries such as agriculture, energy, retail, interior design and more. She has a developed understanding of the business and development dynamics in Southern Africa. She is fluent in English, Chichewa, kiSwahili and Afrikaans.
Mining Trade Advisor (PAMEX)
Mozambican national, Miriam holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Relations and History, and an Honours degree in Development Studies both from the University of Pretoria. She has sought inspiration for development in her Mozambican roots and southern African countries she lived in – Zimbabwe, Swaziland and South Africa; countries full of development opportunities. She is experienced in market research and appointment scheduling for companies from different industries such as the chemical, medical and lubricants industries. Miriam is currently the Mining Trade Advisor of the Pennsylvania Mining Export Program (PAMEX); designed to assist Pennsylvania based mining equipment companies to penetrate the market in the southern African region. Her Portuguese background has been an asset in the facilitation of business relations in the Lusophone emerging markets.
Werner Le Roux
PAMEX Mining Marketing Representative
Being the Mining Marketing Representative for the Pennsylvania Mining Export (PAMEX) programme, Werner has acquired in depth knowledge and expertise in the Southern African mining sectors. His specialisation is in heavy equipment and mining consumables. Travelled across the Southern African Development Community to forge strategic relationships and gather valuable market information.
Werner’s excellent sales skills have benefited the PAMEX programme participants in resulting in lucrative sales in the Southern African market.
International Trade advisor (Illinois)
Since joining the Zurcom team she has worked on several projects and trade missions for foreign, predominantly American, companies wanting to do business in Southern Africa. She has worked with companies from several industries including: housing; mining; beauty and cosmetics; and agriculture. Melanie is the representative for the State of Illinois’s Office of Trade and Investment in Southern Africa. Melanie has a Masters degree in Governance and Development from the University of Sussex.
International Trade Advisor / Assistant (PAMEX)
Eduardo is currently part of the PAMEX Program as the Trade Advisor Assistant, his work is aimed at assisting the Pennsylvania participant companies to successfully penetrate the Southern African market. His focus lies in heavy equipment and mining consumables. As an Angolan national he has also been an asset to the firm, especially with he incorporation of Angola into the PAMEX Program and other potential business opportunities.
International Trade Advisor (Natural Daylighting Representative)
Currently representing and assisting an Australian global leader company dealing in natural daylighting to expand into South Africa. Acute understanding of the green building and renewable energy market in South Africa and other Southern African states. She is experienced in working with companies from different industries such mining, renewables, health care, cosmetics, etc.
International Trade Advisor / Associate
Andrea Completed his Honours in Psychology at the University of Pretoria in 2007, then took 2008 off to qualify for the Beijing Olympic Games before continuing with his studies the following year. In 2009 he completed his Honours in International Relations, after which, he joined Zurcom International as an Intern International Trade Advisor in November 2009. Andrea's studies and his travels as a professional athlete, have afforded him an in-depth understanding of social, political, economic, and development issues which have an increasingly important influence on the international business arena.
Christophe works out of Mauritius. He has experience in project related operations in both southern Africa as well as the Indian Ocean islands. He has an M.B.A from Solvay Business School in Belgium, an Honours Degree from Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain and a B.A. from the University of London in geophysical engineering.
Miems van Niekerk
Miems, a South African based in Australia has 20 years experience in an office clerical environment with a broad range of experience from Typist in the Office of the State President to Personal Assistant at the Rural Area Power solutions and the CSIR. Maintained an effective financial management and administrative service for E+CO by carrying out financial entries and administrative processes in line with global policies and procedures.
